The connection calculation calculates the effect of opening or closing a switch in relation to the protections. Which protections appeal?
For this purpose, two load flows are done. The second applying the changed switch position of the selected branch or element.
The protections that invoke are detected. Since the timing aspect is not part of this calculation, we assume that triggering also leads to tripping.
The interesting aspect of this calculation is the operation of vector jump protection.
Calculation
Select one branch or element.
Start the calculation with Calculate | Basic | Protection | Connection | Open Switch or Close Switch.
The calculation performs two loadflows, changing the switch position internally in between. This is not visible.
The second loadflow is without transformer controls and P and Q controls anyway.
Results
The options for viewing the results are:
•in the one-line diagram
•in Calculate | Results | Overview
•in Calculate | Results | Details
The results are similar to the load flow results.
Color indication
The switched branch or element is shown in the attention color.
The in advance tripping circuit breakers and fuses are shown in the attention color.
The tripping circuit breakers and fuses are shown in the trip color.
