Phase to Phase Quarterly Update: New Functionalities for your Grid Management
As always, we are continuing to improve our products, ensuring they do an even better job at helping you plan, design, and manage your power networks. Every quarter, we add new functionalities. This update brings you up to speed on this quarter’s most important improvements and shows you how they can help you enhance your grid management.
Networks for Electricity Distribution is released!
Since its first publication in 2011, the book ‘Netwerken voor distributie van elektriciteit’ (Networks for Electricity Distribution) has become an indispensable standard for professionals in the Dutch power industry and students at technical universities and colleges. Produced and shared by Phase to Phase, the book offers a comprehensive overview of the history, the structure and the composition of public electricity networks in the Netherlands.
Totally new Vision Grid Navigator: faster, sleeker, more user-friendly
We have rebuilt Vision Grid Navigator from scratch. Users can now benefit from an improved user interface, a faster graphic engine, and more tailor-made options. The fully renewed Vision Grid Navigator is available in the download portal.
Thermal load calculations optimize grid capacity
Calculating the thermal load of electricity cables, transformers, and other components can lead to better use of available grid capacity. Research suggests that grid operators can achieve large potential capacity gains. Phase to Phase is therefore including these methods in its simulation application, Vision Network Analysis.
Large-scale Engineering Scenarios in Vision Cloud Solution
Large-scale changes in Vision Cloud Solution have just become a lot simpler. The “Large-scale Engineering Scenarios” function allows you to implement large-scale changes to your simulated network across your catchment area at the press of a button. This makes it easy to change a cable or fuse type, for instance, or to reinforce distribution transformers.
Support for flexible contracts in Vision Network Analysis
Starting with version 9.9, Vision Network Analysis supports calculations for flexible connection contracts. Calculations for these new contract types offers grid operators and other Vision users even greater insight into scarce grid space. This allows them to use this more efficiently and make space available to (sustainable) clients.
Rapid load flow calculation in Gaia 8.8.1
Starting with Gaia LV Network Design 8.8.1, you will now be able to select rapid load flow calculation for a network. This option is up to six times faster and is particularly suited for rough calculations in cases where precise calculation is not immediately necessary. For example, it allows you to calculate the load flow of merging various large networks. Or to calculate the consequences of a scenario for some point in the distant future.
Nettoets (Grid Check) helps to assess new connections
The Nettoets (Grid Check) in Vision Cloud Solution automates the process of checking grid reinforcements and new power grid connections. Stedin is now taking this functionality one step further. Incoming requests at Stedin are assessed automatically by the Nettoets. Requests with a positive assessment do not need to be checked by an engineer anymore; they are submitted right away. This reduces processing times and provides customers with a quicker insight in their request. It also allows for the Stedin engineers to be assigned to the more complex requests, which is where they are needed most.
Big changes in Vision Cloud Solution’s user interface
Users of Vision Cloud Solution and attendees at the user day have already seen it: the user interface has undergone a major makeover. The changes increase user comfort, enhance readability, and improve search functionality.
Westland Infra adopts Vision CS Measurement Data Module for data-driven network management
The energy transition demands a lot from our low-voltage networks. Operating in a more data-driven way allows grid operators to respond more quickly and effectively to voltage and load fluctuations. The new Vision CS Measurement Data Module offers robust support by making smart use of measurement data from smart meters. This gives grid operators valuable insight and concrete information for effective, data-driven management of the low-voltage networks. One company to recently adopt the Vision CS Measurement Data Module is Westland Infra.
A new partner: Westland Infra Netbeheer
We are proud to welcome Westland Infra Netbeheer as a new partner in the Vision Cloud Solution product user group. This grid operator from the province of Zuid-Holland is now using Vision Cloud Solution and is participating in the development of the platform.
